Im Giving My M1 Finance Portfolio A Pay Raise

Do not let ANYONE tell you that investing $100 each month will get you nowhere. Step your foot inside the markets and through time your views about wealth building will mature.

Building life changing amounts of wealth for most of us will require patience and time.

There are limited ways to build long term wealth and the stock market is one area you don’t want to ignore. The soil is plenty fertile to plant your seeds and watch them grow over decades.

Time for a Raise!

The time has come to give my M1 Finance Growth Portfolio a raise! A whopping $100 raise which is nothing to laugh at! That’s a 100% pay raise my friends. 🙄

The portfolio began back in February 2020 with $1,000 and a starting monthly contribution of $100 minimum. Once I set a minimum contribution to any portfolio, I take myself VERY seriously and maintain my commitment like it is set in stone!

The average contribution over the life of this portfolio comes to $156.84 per month. There were months when I contributed more but the goal is to never invest less than the committed amount.

Here is a quick update on how this portfolio is doing since inception.

Portfolio Highlights

  • Feb 2020: Started investing with $1,000 and $100 minimum monthly contributions.
  • Sep 2021: Raise monthly contribution by $100 to $200 minimum monthly contributions.

Portfolio Composition

  • Portfolio consists of 22 holdings.
  • Top 5 stocks make up 43% of the portfolio.

Performance Update

The portfolio is performing as expected and got lucky with a few trades. This portfolio shows you how I would be investing if I were still grinding away towards financial freedom.

The portfolio holdings nearly peaked around 30 stocks but slowly reduced down to my highest convictions. I may concentrate further in the future. The sweet spot for me has always been about 15 to 25 stocks. Anything more simply required too much research and reading to keep up.

I added BSTZ to reduce the research time the portfolio demanded of me. The more stocks I add, the more hours I find myself reading each day. You don’t want to spend the rest of your FIRE on reading! Balance is key with everything! 🙂

Anyhow, it’s important to have weight on your decisions and carry through with them. Successful investing goes hand in hand with the right set of wealthy mindsets.

Happy Investing!
