Saving Tactics Utilized!

  • Hotel: We used Airbnb and Orbitz rewards from previous travel. Booked around 45 days in advance for deals. Hotel costs for Vegas was free of charge. I will write more on this on a separate post.
  • Transportation: Rental car was from Hertz. Used my AAA membership discount to save on costs.
  • Gas: Utilized Costco gas stations along the way to fill up. Cruise control.
  • Food: Packed some amazing sandwiches and snacks. Packed food for 4 meals for two. Purchased food at grocery markets to cook ourselves at the hotel for some meals. We took an ice chest with us filled with water, drinks and food. We created an ice block from home which saved us on ice for the next 5 days. (Pro Tip: Replace ice in ice chest with block ice wrapped in a plastic bag. It will last much longer and save you money from purchasing ice. My experience was block ice generally lasted around 2 to 3 days longer. They can easily be found at many grocery markets as well as some gas stations such as Chevron.)
