Day 1 & 2: The 1,000 Mile Drive
Day 1: The 500 Mile Drive
The plan was to do most of the driving in the first two days of the road trip. We booked an Airbnb in Cedar City which is 500 miles from San Diego, CA and was estimated by google maps to take around 8 hours. The drive only took us around 6 hours with plenty of stops and rests along the way. There was absolutely no traffic the whole way. Cedar City in Utah happened to be the halfway mark to Yellowstone and provided plenty of Airbnb locations for great prices.
Day 2: The 500 Mile Drive (Part 2)
Early next morning, we hit the roads towards Saint Anthony, ID where our next Airbnb was located. The distance was once again exactly 500 miles away. The drive took about 6 hours. The speed limit in these areas ranged from 75 MPH to 80 MPH. With plenty of stops and rests along the way, the drive was beautiful with dramatic skies and perfect weather setting the mood for an awesome road trip!
