Dividend Portfolio Update for May 2023

Wow, my blog experienced a major hiccup recently. I’m not exactly sure what caused it, but it was an absolute headache to deal with. Thankfully, I managed to clean it up for now.

Moving on, this past month has been phenomenal for equities! The surge of interest in AI has ignited a blazing rally in tech stocks. It’s astonishing to witness how so many investors are chasing after AI-related stocks, and I must admit, it’s a bit concerning. The allure of taking quick profits is strong, and even for those with a long-term investment strategy, it becomes challenging to determine the wisest course of action—whether to hold or sell.

In times like these, it’s crucial to focus on the bigger picture and revisit your investment thesis. Remembering the long-term perspective can provide valuable guidance and help navigate through these uncertain moments.

Here are some things that have been on my mind lately by charts.

This cant be good. Sooner or later this will come bite us in the butt especially with the rapid rise in interest rates since a year ago.

I wonder how long people will hold on to their homes due to their interest rates. Life will go on for many and for some will force them to sell but this will be an interesting case to learn from.

Advancements in AI will change everything but the speed of displacement is worrisome.

Top 20 companies by market cap. It’s rare to see any single company stay on top for over 2 decades. Markets are brutally competitive and dynamic. Intel is the only company on that chart for the last 4 decades. Will they finally drop out of the top 20?
